Sparc FOUNDRY develops and produces compound semiconductors as part of a strong European ecosystem. We are building advanced manufacturing capabilities for Group IIIâV materials to serve markets such as telecommunications, automotive, quantum computing, defence, aerospace, medical and consumer electronics.
â What will you do with us?
As Senior Equipment Engineer specialising in Epitaxy (MOCVD), you will lead the technical strategy, installation, qualification and longâterm support of MetalâOrganic Chemical Vapour Deposition tools across our fab. You will ensure equipment readiness for process development and highâvolume production, drive reliability and uptime improvements, and work closely with process engineering, maintenance, suppliers and R&D to deliver excellent device performance and yield.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Equipment deployment & qualification: Lead installation, site acceptance, and qualification activities for new and upgraded MOCVD tools, ensuring compliance with Sparcâs manufacturing readiness criteria and quality systems.
Process enabling & integration: Collaborate with epitaxy and device process engineers to integrate equipment capability with process requirements, optimise tool recipes, and support technology transfer from R&D to production.
Reliability, uptime & performance: Implement preventative maintenance strategies, rootâcause analysis and continuous improvement programmes to maximise tool availability and stability, minimise process excursions and reduce cost of ownership.
Supplier & lifecycle management: Manage supplier relationships, performance agreements and spare parts strategies. Drive costâeffective procurement, upgrades and retrofits while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
Technical leadership & documentation: Produce and maintain equipment specifications, qualification protocols, maintenance procedures and technical reports. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the organisation.
Commissioning & transfer support: Provide onâsite and remote support for tool commissioning, process transfer, and scaleâup activities. Act as Escalation Engineer for complex equipment failures or process interactions.
Health, safety & compliance: Ensure all equipment work adheres to health, safety and environmental policies, regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
Expanded responsibilities:
Contribute to roadmap planning for epitaxy equipment strategy, participate in capital planning and budgeting, and represent equipment engineering in crossâfunctional forums to align on priorities for production, R&D and customer projects.

đ§ What skill set are we looking for?
Education: Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
Experience: 5+ years handsâon experience with MOCVD or other epitaxial equipment in semiconductor, photonics or related highâtech manufacturing environments. Proven track record in equipment qualification, reliability improvement and technical leadership.
Required knowledge & capabilities:
Deep understanding of MOCVD tool architecture, gas delivery systems, mass flow control, thermal management and reactor chemistry. Experience with Aixtron G10 or G5 would be a big plus.
Experience with equipment qualification protocols, SPC, process control and yieldâdriven maintenance strategies.
Familiarity with vacuum systems, gas safety, toxic gas handling and cleanroom best practice.
Ability to read and produce technical schematics, P&IDs and control system documentation.
Experience interfacing with OEMs, service vendors and thirdâparty contractors for installation, upgrades and spare parts management.
Soft skills:
Strong analytical and problemâsolving skills, decisive under pressure, excellent communicator and effective mentor. Able to influence crossâfunctional stakeholders and drive improvement initiatives.Language: Fluency in English (written & verbal).

About Sparc Foundry
SPARC Foundry will produce PICs (Photonic Integrated Circuits) and discrete components based on Group IIIâV semiconductors. It will have the capacity to develop 20,000 wafers per year with different types of technologies based on Group IIIâV materials, including GaAs (Gallium Arsenide), InP (Indium Phosphide) and GaN (Gallium Nitride). These components are used across industries such as automotive, telecommunications, quantum computing, consumer electronics, defence, aerospace and medicine.
